Full Refractory Assistant Job Description :-
Hulamin is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Refractory Assistant to join Richards Bay Casthouse
department. This position is based in Richards Bay .
The core responsibilities of the position include:
• Inspection and maintenance of launder sections in the plant.
• Routine maintenance of Holding furnace refractory.
• Assist supervisor in refractory maintenance work.
• Work related to casting some launder sections, hopper refractory, filter bowl inserts, gunning, and spouts.
• Inspecting of all launder sections before and after every cast.
• Casting of Holding furnace door units into the framed steelwork.
The requirements for the position include:
• Matric
• Possess two years’ experience in refractory work or the building industry as an assistant in
refractory/masonry work.
• Possess some basic knowledge of equipment used in refractory and/or civil work.
• Has knowledge of mixing, concrete/hammers, grinders, mixers, brick cutters etc.
• Possess basic knowledge of safety, housekeeping, PPE, and lockouts.
• Willing to work as stand-by and near hot furnaces.
• Ability to attend spontaneously in emergency situations.
